Ever
since pregnancy I've been addicted to chocolate. It's a little ridiculous
and out of hand because I've been eating chocolate in one form or
another at least once a day for the past year, and during the wintertime
took it a step further and got hooked on the hot liquid variety
too. It's all shameful only in its cliched predictability, like
soon I'll have to get a "Chocoholic!!" bumper sticker
and people will buy me "101 Things to Do With A Chocolate Bar!"
recipe books for special occasions and I'll be making chocolate-eating
PMS jokes with my stay at home mom friends. Dreadful. Here are my
current works in progress:
This
one is a little worn out from all the nibbling. It's a big hunk
that probably most people use for baking but I use for eating.
These
are extravagant and expensive ($4.99) but they are delicious. I
think they might be seasonal so I'm contemplating buying like a
hundred dollars' worth of boxes the next time I go to Trader Joes.
Extreme? Taste them and then judge me.
My
new favorite. You see that it is called "One Huge Hunk",
and in reality this is like ten inches long or something - it's
a big heavy pound of dark chocolate. I'm trying to think of Blair
Underwood or Tyson Beckford jokes, but all I can think about is
the actual chocolate. This comes from a new store in our area called
Fresh
& Easy, which is a spinoff of Tesco in England. I went to
the one in Echo Park and it was weird but also fantastic -- I bought
a head of lettuce for 49 cents and of course found that chocolate
bar. Not a lot of organic stuff on the shelves, which is strange
for a new supermarket that calls itself "Fresh & Easy",
but the stuff's cheap and the store isn't overpopulated yet and
I got to see cool hipster parents wheeling their mohawked-toddlers
around in shopping carts. Really.

I
just saw a picture of the baby
that made me realize I too suffered from My Baby Is Cute! syndrome
in the beginning as most parents do even when he wasn't very cute.
But NOW he's for sure cute, right?
