Gray
and I both suffer from late night genius syndrome. LNGS. Which means
we have the malady that makes us think we're brilliant in the middle
of the night. I've tried to train myself to write things down even
if it's 3am and I'm in a near coma when I'm having a LNGS idea,
and apparently Gray does the same thing because this morning at
breakfast he took out his cellphone and played me a muddy jingle.
I said, "What the hell is that?" And he said, "It's
me, playing bass. I woke up in the middle of the night with this
great song running through my head and I got out my bass and I recorded
it into my phone." So while he's standing there in the kitchen
bopping along to what I can only charitably call a dark fuzzy mess
of twanginess, I remember that I wrote something down late at night
a few evenings prior. I bring it out and tell him I jotted what
is surely my next big idea and that he has to listen to it because
I listened to his. Here's what I wrote.
"Evil
neighbors want to yell 'help!' but can't in streets. Want/went to
buy gun to kill him, but he shows up, says he isn't who people think
he is (mistaken identity). Then the gun fires and he pulls a hostage
out and kills the shopkeeper. His kids are there and they're taunting
and evil, too. Then hostage tries to get revenge and kill him for
good. And when he kills shopkeeper he says he's already killed something
of hostage's."
See?
SHEER BRILLIANCE. And to think these genes will be passed on.

I'm
currently fighting a second speeding ticket. I know, lay off the
lead foot already. I already have, and I find my driving is much
less tense now and I get to my destinations in almost the same amount
of time. Driving fast is a lot more fun, though. I'll give it that.
I don't really have anything else to say about it because I haven't
been ruled guilty or non in the first round yet, but I did have
a spirited conversation with the plumber about the evilness of the
California Highway Patrol ticketing system this morning while he
pulled large quantiies of my hair from the shower drain.

So
last night Depeche Mode played a concert on many movie theater screens
across the country, a show that had been recorded in I think Paris
a few months ago. One of the selected theaters was in Burbank, but
the motherfucker sold out way in advance, nobody scalped their ticket
on ebay, and so I didn't get to go. So I went to the softball game
and cheered from the sidelines and watched us lose instead. This
is an interesting new phenomenon, though, a concert in a movie theater.
One of my friends in Orange County went to a screening there last
night and said it was packed and really fun, with people singing
along and standing, etc. And ten bucks kind of beats the $60 that
most concerts are today. But what am I saying. I've only felt religion
a few times in my life, and all but one of the times happened at
live concerts. So let concerts live.

Now
I'm going to go buy the new Scissor Sisters and Enigma CDs, and
maybe BT if somebody would dang get it in. Isn't LA supposed to
be one of the world's biggest electronica markets? Yet no new BT
CD in sight. Dopes.
